Tibet's First Alternative Airport Power Project Goes into Operation

The power replacement project at Lhasa Kongga International Airport in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region went into operation on Nov 27.

The project will replace aviation fuel with clean electricity as a power source after a plane lands, and is the first of its kind in the region.

The replacement is expected to reduce aviation fuel consumption by 3,738.2 tons annually, a value of about 17.75 million yuan ($2.72 million), and will promote use of solar and hydro power at approximate levels of 1.1 million kWh.

The project was invested and constructed by State Grid Corporation of China.
