World's largest single-line cooper mine separation production line starts operation on Dec 11, 2012

A ceremony was held on Dec 11, 2012 in Lima, capital of Peru, to announce start-up of production at the world's largest single-line cooper separation facility at the Toromocho copper mine, a project of Aluminum Corporation of China. It is China's largest overseas project of its kind.

Having the shortest construction period and using the most advanced equipment, the mine is accessing copper reserves of about 12 million tons.

With a designed life of more than 30 years, the project is expected to produce cooper concentrate bearing 220,000 tons of copper per year, accounting for 18 percent of domestic output.

It was the first time an EPCM mode was used in a project. Equipped with the world's largest excavator, mining trucks and a flotation machine, the project has internationally leading levels in design, construction and cost control. Its indexes set world-wide models for future copper mining projects.
