The Phase IV project of the Yangshan Deepwater Port, part of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, opened to service on Dec 10, 2017.

The port is China's largest container deepwater port and the busiest of its kind in the world.

Designed and built by China Communications Construction Company Limited, the Phase IV part is China's first and the world's largest stand-alone fully-automatic port with the highest comprehensive degree of automation globally.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation also contributed to its construction.

Its opening signaled progressive upgrading in China's port industry's advanced operation modes, technology application and equipment.
