Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region announced on Nov 20 that the region's Dahua Yao autonomous county has been de-listed from poverty list, which marked that China Datang Corporation Ltd. (China Datang) has completed its goal of lifting all paired counties out of poverty.
With 92 poverty-stricken villages and an impoverished population of 104,405, Dahua was one of the four extremely-poor counties in Guangxi.
China Datang paired up with Dahua and had invested more than 96.33 million yuan ($14.64 million) in 115 projects involving industrial development, infrastructure construction, dilapidated housing rehabilitation and education and training in Dahua in the past two years.
Based on its industrial advantages, China Datang has also helped with poverty alleviation in other ways.
It has built a garment factory in Chengcheng county, another its paired poverty alleviation county in Shaanxi province, which was lifted out of poverty in May 2019. The factory provided jobs for 500 to 1,000 local people.
In addition, the 50,000 kW wind power project invested by the company in Chengcheng, valued at 400 million yuan, will go into operation soon. It is expected to play a crucial role in rural revitalization in surrounding areas.
For the past three years, China Datang has provided 1.35 billion yuan of poverty-alleviation funds, developed 1,596 poverty-alleviation projects and sent 360 employees to its paired poverty-stricken areas, helping more than 330,000 people get out of poverty.
