Construction of the largest infrastructure engineering project since the founding of Kenya - the East African Railway - starts on Nov 28, 2013

Construction of the East African Railway, the largest infrastructure engineering project since the founding of Kenya, started on Nov 28, 2013.

One of the backbone railways of the country's national railway plan, the railway starts from Mombasa in Kenya and passes through several East African countries including Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.

Contracted by China Communications Construction Company Limited at a construction cost of $13.8 billion, the railway has greatly relieved traffic pressure in Mombasa and promoted regional economic growth since its opening.

A Chinese enterprise wins construction of a World Cup main stadium for the first time on Nov 28, 2016

A consortium of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited and Qatar HBK signed an agreement to contract the Lusail Stadium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Nov 28, 2016.

It was the first time a Chinese enterprise participated in construction of the main stadium of the World Cup as a prime contractor.

With about 45,000 sq m of membrane, the stadium has what is currently the largest roof membrane structure in the world. It was designed with 92,000 seats and a total of 100,000 tons of steel were used during construction.

The stadium will be the venue of four main events of the 2022 World Cup, the opening ceremony, the opening match, the final match and the closing ceremony. It has already become an international landmark of the city.

The establishment is a key step on the company's road to be a world leading comprehensive energy enterprise.

Resulting from a merger of China Guodian Corporation and Shenhua Group, China Energy is currently the largest coal producer, thermal power generator, wind power developer and coal-to-liquid and coal chemical maker in the world.

The company is now active in the coal industry, conventional power generation, new energy, transportation, the coal chemical industry, industrial technology, energy conservation and environmental protection and industrial finance.
