New Highway to Boost Chengdu Economic Development

Updated: 2020-11-24

The Zhongjiang-Hefeng section of the Deyang-Jianyang Highway in Southwest China's Sichuan province went into trial operation on Nov 16.

Located in the area hit hardest by the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, the north-south highway starts from Jingyang district in Deyang on the Beijing-Kunming Highway, passes Zhongjiang and Jintang counties, and terminates in Jianyang along the Chongqing-Chengdu Highway.

With a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour, the six-lane highway is 105.56 km in total length.

The Deyang-Jianyang Highway is expected to become a key hub to boost West China's economic development and will be a part of the highway network in Sichuan.

Meanwhile, it will play a significant role in driving development of Chengdu-centered urban agglomeration, promoting tourism and improving traffic capacity to help with disaster relief.

The section opened on Nov 16 was invested and built by China Railway Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited.
