China Telecom Supports Security Patrol, Epidemic Prevention at 3rd CIIE

Updated: 2020-11-04

A series of 5G-based applications developed and operated by China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom) will play a role in security patrol and epidemic prevention and control at the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

In previous CIIE events, most products of China Telecom were on display but this year the company's applications will be seen in actual use to provide safe and high-quality service for participants of CIIE.

China Telecom's subsidiary in Shanghai has prepared 20 pairs of augmented reality (AR) glasses for public security officers that will be on duty at the venue. Connected to the 5G smart phones, officers can log into the online image police platform and obtain the information they need.

The AR glasses can also be connected to the ECS server and the alerting system of the public security departments, helping staff members at the CIIE gain information about the people and vehicles they are checking.

The ultra-high speed and low latency of the 5G internet guarantee real-time cooperation between on-site workers and the command center.

In addition, infrared thermometer readings, facial identification, notification of abnormal health conditions and facial recordings can also be obtained simply by wearing the AR glasses.
