Beijing-Kowloon Railway passes inspection on Nov 3, 1997

The Beijing-Kowloon Railway, China's longest double-line railway constructed in a continuous period, passed inspection on Nov 3, 1997.

It is considered one of the greatest railway projects in China in the 20th century.

Starting from Beijing in the north, the 2,397-kilometer line passes Shenzhen, Guangdong Province and terminates at Kowloon in Hong Kong.

Many Chinese central SOEs including China Railway Group Limited and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited contributed to the project, which was valued at 40 billion yuan ($5.67 billion).

Shenzhou 8 spacecraft, Tiangong I space lab realize first docking on Nov 3, 2011

The Shenzhou 8 spacecraft docked with the Tiangong I space lab for the first time while orbiting 343 kilometers above the ground on Nov 3, 2011.

It was the first successful docking of China’s manned space project. The docking laid a solid foundation and collected experience for China to master key technologies of space vehicle docking and construction of manned space stations.

Both the spacecraft and the space lab were primarily developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

Long March 5 carrier rocket is launched on Nov 3, 2016

The Long March 5 carrier rocket, generally developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, was launched from Wenchang Space Launch Center in South China's Hainan Province on Nov 3, 2016.

It has the largest carrying capacity in China and confirms updating and renovation of Chinese carrier rockets from middle to large size.

Tiankun, the largest self-propelled heavy cutter-suction dredger in Asia, is launched on Nov 3, 2017

Invested by China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), the largest heavy cutter-suction dredger in Asia, was launched on Nov 3, 2017.

The dredger, jointly designed by CCCC with other enterprises and built by Zhenhua Port Machinery Company Limited, is 140 meters in length and 27.8 meters wide.

It has a cutter with a power level of 6,600kW and can dredge as deep as 35 meters with a total installed power of 25,843 kW.

Completely developed and manufactured by China, the dredger is designed to dredge 6,000 cubic meters of mud per hour.
