China succeeds in its first combined thermal test on a carrier rocket carrying a nuclear warhead at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China's Gansu Province on Oct 27, 1966

A nuclear warhead was launched by a carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China's Gansu Province and successfully exploded at the targeted location on Oct 27, 1966.

It was the first of such tests in China and marked that the country had viable guided missiles.

A domestically developed and innovated achievement, the test was proof of the rapid progress of China's science and technology as well as its national defense capacity.
