China completes regional networking of Beidou navigation project on Oct 25, 2012

The 16th Beidou navigation satellite was put into orbit on Oct 25, 2012, marking the completion of regional networking of the project.

It was the last satellite of China's second generation Beidou navigation project and it joined the other 15 satellites to offer stable and continuous service to the Asia-Pacific region.

The global Beidou Navigation Satellite System was developed and operated in China by enterprises including China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited, China Electronic Technology Group Corporation.

It is compatible and interoperable with other navigation satellite systems around the world.
