China- Myanmar Gas Pipeline Operational on Oct 20, 2013

The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) announced on Oct 20, 2013 that the natural gas from the Bay of Bengal in Myanmar was ignited in Guigang, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, marking the completion of the China-Myanmar natural gas pipeline.

With a total length of 7,676 kilometers and designed annual output of 22 million tons of crude oil and 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas, the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline project is a strategic channel for energy import in Southwest China. It could reduce coal consumption by 30.72 million tons per year and cut carbon dioxide emissions by more than 52.83 million tons.

The project has attracted direct investment of over 100 billion yuan ($14.12 billion), and has become a bridge to deepen the friendship between the peoples of the two countries. The Zhongwei-Guiyang line connects the China-Myanmar natural gas pipeline and the West-East gas pipeline, so that the gas resources of the two pipe network systems can be mutually scheduled and replaced, and the China oil and gas pipeline grid is basically formed.

China-made large amphibious aircraft AG600 completes first water-based flight on Oct 20, 2018

The amphibious aircraft AG600, independently-developed by Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Ltd (AVIC), completed its first water-based flight on Oct 20, 2018.

The AG600 is a large special-purpose civil aircraft originally developed in China to meet urgent needs in forest fire fighting and water rescue. It adds significantly to the national emergency rescue system, and is another major breakthrough in the field of large aircraft after China's self-developed large transport aircraft Y-20 was delivered and the C919 large passenger aircraft carried out its first flight.

The AG600 has filled China's development gap in large amphibious aircraft, and greatly improves the supply capacity and level of domestic civil aircraft, effectively advancing the leapfrog development of China's emergency rescue aviation equipment system construction and stepping up the building of the country's marine power.
