The Shenwei coal pipeline in Shaanxi province, the world's longest coal transportation pipeline, recently completed trial operation.
Contracted by China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Corp (CCTEG), the 727-kilometer pipeline is designed to transfer 10 million tons of coal annually.
Completely designed and constructed by Chinese companies, the project passes four cities and 18 counties and includes 59 tunnels which measure a total of 55.5 kilometers. The entire pipeline goes under railways, highways and rivers, which added to the construction difficulties.
In addition to the pipeline, the project also included construction of coal supply, slurrying, pumping, mortar storage, dehydration and production supportive systems.
Many technologies developed during construction filled technical blanks in the long-distance coal transportation pipeline engineering field in China, guaranteeing highly-efficient, environmentally-friendly and clean transportation and utilization of coal.
The pipeline is a new coal logistics approach and promotes transformation and upgrading of traditional energy industries.
