The world's first turnout junction for high-speed maglev vehicles that travel as fast as 600 kilometers per hour recently passed inspection in Baoji in Shaanxi province and was ready for installation and adjustment.
A major project of China's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), the 600km/h high-speed maglev turnout was designed, manufactured and installed by China Railway Baoji Bridge Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited.
With a total length of nearly 80 meters, the 3-meter wide single right hand turnout has a switch lead of nearly 4 meters. A maglev vehicle can run through the turnout as fast as 600 kilometers per hour, the fastest such procedure in the world.
The smart control system, the eight-span stiff and flexible design and the precision group welding as well as the complete machine processing skills ensured the turnout's construction accuracy and performance.
The complete turnout static assembly technology developed during the construction is expected to contribute to future 600km/h high-speed maglev lines.
