DEC Develops World's First 660 MW Supercritical CFB Boiler

Updated: 2020-10-14

The world's first 660 MW supercritical circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler in Pingshuo Power Plant in Shanxi province recently went into service after a 168-hour full load trial operation.

During the entire trial period, the boiler operated stably and safely with all operating parameters meeting designed requirements.

What's more, the operation had outstanding economic indicators and satisfied the requirement of super-low pollutant release.

Independently developed by Dongfang Boiler Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC), the boiler gives the company a leading role in the field.

Dongfang Boiler Group Co., Ltd. developed a 600 MW supercritical CFB boiler which went into operation in 2013 at the Baima Power Plant in Southwest China's Sichuan province. It had the world's largest installed capacity of its kind at that time.

With an evaporation capacity of 2,162 tons per hour, the new 660 MW supercritical CFB boiler has higher parameters, more advanced technologies and better performance compared to the previous one.

According to the operation, 19.96 milligrams and 28.97 milligrams per standard cubic meter of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide are released by the generator unit per hour. The unit dust emission is 0.86 milligrams per standard cubic meter per hour. All the indicators are lower than those required.

The operation of the 660 MW supercritical CFB boiler is a breakthrough in the field relying on the company's technical competitiveness, manufacturing quality, and high-quality service.

Green effects and innovation are highly valued by the company in all its projects.

For example, its advanced furnace combustion control technology has been used in Pingshuo Power Plant to make full use of the environmental protection performance of the CFB boiler and limit the pollutant emission to the lowest level.

Meanwhile, the technologies of in-furnace desulfurization with limestone and wet desulphurization as well as SNCR De-NOx facilities are also used in the plant.
