Shengli Oil Field of China Petrochemical Corporation, China's second largest, is developed on Sept 28, 1974.
Located in the Yellow River Delta in northern Shandong Province, the over 2,500-sq km oil field covers more than ten counties in cities such as Dongying, Dezhou and Weifang.
Its development and construction was significant in changing China's fuel mix and the distribution of the fuel industry and improving the country's national economic growth.
The oil field also enriched and promoted the theory of oil field exploration and development in China, which contributed to similar oil field projects.
