New Highway to boost Jilin's Development

Updated: 2020-09-25

The Songyuan-Tongyu highway in Northeast China's Jilin province opened to traffic on Sept 15, the first highway to join Qian'an and Tongyu counties.

Now, travel time between Tongyu and Changchun, capital of Jilin, will be shortened to 2.5 hours.

Starting from Songyuan, the highway connects with the Daqing-Guangzhou Highway at the Guaibodian in Jilin, passes Qianguo, Qian'an and Tongyu counties and terminates at the border of Tongyu and the Horqin Right Wing Middle Banner in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Generally contracted by China Communications Construction Company Ltd., the 206-kilometer four-lane highway has a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

The highway will be a crucial hub of the west-to-east artery in northwestern Jilin.

Its service marked formation of an industrial corridor ring road around Changchun, which is expected to contribute to local industrial spatial distribution and promote economic and social development in affected areas.
