China succeeded in putting three satellites into orbit using one carrier rocket for the first time on Sept 20, 1981, marking a milestone in the country's space industry.
The success was also a reflection of the level of China's military industry and space technology, which attracted the world's attention.
The three satellites — SJ-2, SJ-2A and SJ-2B — were a group of space physics exploration satellites developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited.
All three satellites performed well in orbit, sending back all kinds of scientific and test data to the Earth.
