A 100-ton bottom open coal train with 110 cars driven by Shenhua high-power electric locomotive arrived at Huanghua Port station in Hebei Province on August 27, 2014.
It was China's first heavy haul train with a 30-ton axle load to be operated on the Shuozhou-Huanghua railway, and was proof that freight transportation in China had entered the heavy haul era.
Developed by China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy), the 30-ton axle load train improved transportation efficiency by 30 percent at lower cost.
Its development meant that China had a complete super-axle load technical system with proprietary intellectual property rights which contributed to expansion and renovation of the country's railway network, promoted progress of heavy haul railway technology and improved core competitiveness in this field internationally.
