Punta Sierra Wind Farm, Chile's first wind farm invested and built by China's central SOEs, went into service on August 24, 2018.
The farm is a result of the Belt and Road Initiative and has a gross installed capacity of 80 MW.
It can produce 282 GWh of electricity annually, which can meet the power demands of 130,000 households. It can also help reduce about 157,000 tons of carbon emissions every year.
A 220-kV booster station was also built to transform electricity for household use.
