Manufacture of the first China-made shunting locomotives for a European Union country is contracted on August 18, 2011

A contract providing for export from China of shunting locomotives to Estonian railway freight company was signed on August 18, 2011.

According to the contract, China CSR Corporation Limited (now merged with China CNR Corporation Limited into CRRC Corporation Limited) would provide sixteen 5,500-horsepower shunting locomotives to the Estonian side within two years.

All the engines were manufactured by Beijing No. 27 Railway Transportation Manufacturing Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of China CSR Corporation Limited, and delivered to the buyer by the end of 2013.

The delivery was proof that China-made shunting locomotives could be exported to a European Union country, and was an example for other Chinese companies to follow to access the European Union market.

China State-owned Capital Venture Capital Fund Company Limited is established on August 18, 2016

China State-owned Capital Venture Capital Fund Company Limited was jointly established by China Reform Holdings Corporation Ltd., as the main initiator and the dominant shareholder, Postal Savings Bank of China, China Construction Bank and Shenzhen Investment Holdings Co., Ltd. on August 18, 2016.

Valued at 200 billion yuan ($28.49 billion), the company is the largest national venture capital fund approved by the State Council. It focuses on promoting implementation of national strategies through market mechanisms.

The company mainly invests in entrepreneurial technology innovation and industrial upgrading projects and follows such principles as marketization and professionalization.

Its launch has had positive impacts on the innovative development of companies and promotion of reform of state-owned enterprises.

Construction of China's first deep-layer sewage transmission tunnel starts on August 18, 2018

The shield tunneling machine "Lvtouhao" No.1, the first of its kind to be used in a sewage transmission project, was ready for operation at the East Lake Core Zone in Wuhan, Hubei Province, on August 18, 2018.

The date was the beginning of the construction of China's first deep-layer sewage transmission tunnel.

Constructed by China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the project included a 17.5-kilometer main tunnel, nine vertical shafts and nine shield intervals.

The tunnel was the first with all-underground sewage pre-treatment stations in an urban area in China. It was also the first with a spiral-inflow method and had the largest volume and the longest transmission distance in the country.
