Shenzhen-Hong Kong connecting tunnel uplink to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway is completed on August 9, 2015

The Shenzhen-Hong Kong uplink connecting tunnel of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway was completed on August 9, 2015.

The completion established the first high-speed railway linking the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong contracted by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited.

Passing Shenzhen Futian Station and terminating at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, the connecting tunnel runs entirely underground with a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

Advance exploratory drilling in the tunnel with grouting reinforcement was used for the first time in China, and guaranteed shield construction in the karst cave.

The completed railway linked Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, which deepened connectivity between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
