It was also proof of improvement in the country's deepwater engineering.
A modern tram network in Hunnan New District, Shenyang, the first of its kind in China, goes into service on August 6, 2013
The modern tram network in Hunnan New District of Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning Province, the first of its kind in China, was completed and went into service on August 6, 2013.
Built by China CNR Corporation Limited (now merged with China CSR Corporation Limited into CRRC Corporation Limited), the tram network consists of four lines, totals 60 kilometers, and has 67 stations.
Operating on the lines are domestically manufactured 100 percent and 70 percent low-floor trolley cars.
Many technologies such as full greening of the monolithic track bed, trough-type steel rail and super-capacitor technology as well as an integrated location system to guarantee signal control, were first developed during the construction.

The Tiantong-01 satellite, China's first with a mobile communication system, was launched by the Long March 3B rocket on August 6, 2016.
Developed by the Fifth Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the satellite mainly provides 24/7 all-weather stable communication service for China and its neighboring countries as well as the Middle East and Africa, and most parts of the Pacific and Indian oceans.
The satellite is also used in voice communication, text messaging and data businesses.
Its launch signaled that China had entered the "age of smart phones" via satellite.
