Updated: 2020-07-29

The No. 1 container terminal project of the Chuanshan'gang port area of Ningbo's Zhoushan Port  passed inspection on July 22, bringing a close to the construction of the world's second-largest single container.

Located to the west of the No. 2 to 11 terminals, the No. 1 container terminal was designed by the China Communication Planning and Design Institute for Water Transportation Co., Ltd and constructed by CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. The port machinery was provided by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC). All the companies are subsidiaries of China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC).

With a 330-meter long and 55-meter wide shoreline, the terminal can accommodate a container vessel as heavy as 70,000 tons and is expected to handle 620,000 TEUs annually.

The No. 2 to 11 terminals was also designed and built by CCCC which also provided these terminals port machinery.

As the completion of the container port in Chuanshan'gang port area, the shortage of berths in the Yangtze River Delta will be relieved. Moreover, the terminal will play a role in improving the layout of the area and promoting the economic growth of Zhoushan Port in East China's Zhejiang province.
