The No. 1 generator unit of the Dubai Hassyan 4×600MW clean coal-fired power project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) realized full-load power generation driven by two kinds of energy on July 19.
The No. 1 generator unit started operation on June 30.
The data parameters, so far, show that the machines are performing stably and with high-quality, evidence of China's comprehensive and professional competitiveness in Belt and Road construction.
The data also indicate that the Hassyan project, with the world's first dual-fuel generator unit, is capable of full-load operation with both natural gas and coal.
Developed by Harbin Electric Corporation (HE), the project is the first clean coal-fired power plant in the Middle East.
Equipped with four ultra supercritical units with net capacity of 600MW each, the project makes full use of coal and natural gas and is not affected by their differing supply levels.
Once operable, the project is expected to provide 20 percent of Dubai's power and will greatly reduce local electricity costs.
In addition to the progress of the Hassyan project, HE's other projects in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative are also going smoothly amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The company will continue to make efforts in iconic Belt and Road projects and promote Chinese construction around the world.
