World's First Diesel Adsorption Separation Technology Applied in Real Production

Updated: 2020-07-16

The world's first technology of diesel separation by adsorption was applied in real application in Binzhou of Shandong province on July 9.

The technology, jointly developed by CenerTech Tianjin Chemical Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), and China Kunlun Contracting & Engineering Corporation of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), is a milestone in the promotion and application of diesel separation by adsorption in China. It is based on the concept of molecular engineering, which plays a significant role in transformation and upgrading as well as high-quality development of the country's refinery industry.

According to CenerTech Tianjin Chemical Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd., all kinds of chemical constituents in gasoline and diesel are fully used by adsorption separation technology.

For example, arene, alkene and green solvent can be separated with high efficiency from the oil with low investment and costs.

So far, the world's first industrial demonstration facility equipped with the technology has passed a 72-hour operation test at full load in Shandong Bin Yang Gasification Co., Ltd. with all indices meeting the design values.

The special technical skills involved in the adsorbent as well as the patented internal grilling components and dedicated control system of the facility had passed industrial inspection, which guarantees qualified products.

Crude processing capacity in China has been improving in recent years with the development of new energy as well as the operation of large-scale refining projects.

It is recorded that now about 860 million tons of crude can be processed per year in the country.

In the meantime, in response to the demand for high-end chemical products, growth of production of some basic chemical raw materials like arene and alkene has been much faster than that of petroleum product production.

Therefore, development of the oil-chemical combined technology and making full use of oil to promote transformation and upgrading of the traditional refinery industry has been highly valued.

The diesel adsorption separation technology is capable of separating purer chemicals and can efficiently improve the processing value of oil products, which is quite promising in the market.

The technology has obtained 45 national patents for invention and one international one.

Next, the company plans to promote application of the technology and extend it to related industries along the industrial chain.

It also intends to develop a whole set of oil-chemical combined technologies and increase its contribution to transformation and upgrading and high-quality development of the refinery industry.
