New PCR Nucleic Acid Test Cabin Lab Completed in Beijing

Updated: 2020-07-07

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) nucleic acid test cabin lab in Longquan hospital in Beijing was completed after seven days of construction and delivered on July 4.

The lab was contracted by China Construction First Group Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and is expected to give 1,000 nucleic acid tests per day when it goes into service.

Its operation and the highly-efficient testing will be a strong support for prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PCR testing method is used in the lab, which can help medical workers learn the virus content of a patient quickly. It is currently the most widely used method in hospitals and disease control and prevention centers for nucleic acid tests.

With two mobile cabins, the lab can immediately carry out tests wherever the pandemic is raging, which effectively reduces movement of patients and time needed to transfer samples, lowers the possibility of the spread of the virus and improves testing efficiency.

According to Wang Hui, a builder of the lab of China Construction First Group Corporation Limited, the lab features a ventilation and air conditioning system and drainage system from clean water supply to sewage discharge.

Moreover, all lights of the power supply in the lab are clean lamps and have an ultraviolet sterilization function.

The lab also has a central management station, 5G service, independent extra-low voltage power and access monitoring, which guarantees safe and smooth transfer of testing results.

In addition to the newly completed lab, China Construction First Group Corporation Limited also fulfilled its responsibilities as a central SOE and played a role in fighting against the pandemic in early 2020.

The company participated in construction and renovation of makeshift hospitals and medical institutes as well as mask workshops in Wuhan of Central China's Hubei province which was hardest-hit by the pandemic, Xi'an of Shaanxi province, Xuzhou of Jiangsu province and Suzhou of Anhui province, as well as Beijing and Tianjin.
