First China-made aircraft succeeds on maiden flight on July 3, 1954
CJ-5, the first aircraft independently manufactured by China, successfully flew for the first time on July 3, 1954. It was the start of China's aircraft manufacturing.
Chairman Mao Zedong signed a letter praising and encouraging staff members of the aviation industry, saying that the successful flight of CJ-5 was a good start for China's aircraft manufacturing industry and will promote national defense.
CJ-5 was a milestone of China's aviation industry from repairs to manufacturing. It laid a foundation for training of pilots of the People's Liberation Army Air Force and ended the country's reliance on imported primary training aircraft.
Sahiwal Coal-fired Power Plant, the first major energy project along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, is completed and goes into operation on July 3, 2017
The Sahiwal Coal-fired Power Plant, the first major energy project along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, was completed and went into operation on July 3, 2017.
The plant is still the fastest-constructed coal-fired power plant with the largest installed capacity and advanced technology until now.
In addition, it was energy conservative and environmentally friendly as it used clean fuel efficiently.
The plant was able to produce nine billion kWh per year, which filled one fourth of the power shortage of Pakistan and met the electricity demand of 10 million people in the country.
It was praised by the Pakistan government as "a miracle in Pakistan's power construction history".
