Lingao Nuclear Power Station (LNPS) goes into service on July 2, 2002
The No. 1 generator unit of the first phase of the Lingao Nuclear Power Station (LNPS) project went into service on July 2, 2002.
The station, built by China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), was China's first independently designed, manufactured, constructed and operated one million-kilowatt nuclear power plant.
The main facilities of the plant were made by Chinese central SOEs including Dongfang Electric Corporation, Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd and China First Heavy Industries. A total of 198 domestic suppliers participated in manufacturing the equipment.
Construction and operation of the LNPS provided experience for the future nuclear power industry in China and laid a solid foundation to comprehensively construct one million-kilowatt nuclear power stations independently and domestically.
