Headquartered in Shanghai, China Eastern Airlines was established on June 25, 1988.
The company is one of the three backbone air transport companies in China and its predecessor was the first airline launched in Shanghai in January 1957.
To date, the company has more than 660 planes of an average age of 5.39 years, which makes it the youngest fleet among international large-scale aviation enterprises.
The company's routes currently reach 177 countries and 1,074 destinations. More than 120 million passengers travel on China Eastern Airlines' flights per year, the 7th highest passenger volume in the world.

The fourth machine unit of the Zhoushan Power Plant passed the 168-hour test operation on June 25, 2014, becoming the first near-zero emission coal-fired machine unit in China ready for commercial operation.

The Long March 7, China's new generation medium carrier rocket, succeeded on its first flight on June 25, 2016 at the Wenchang Space Satellite Launch Center in Hainan province, marking the beginning of China's manned space program.
Generally developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the Long March 7 can carry as much as 13.5 tons of weight in low-Earth orbit and 5.5 tons in sun-synchronous orbit, matching the capacity of the rockets of the same type developed by other countries.
