The Haiyang-1D satellite was put into orbit on June 11, 2020. By June 14, all five payloads on the satellite are in sound operation.
The first of the series, the Haiyang-1A, was launched into space in 2002. It was China's first oceanographic satellite.
The Haiyang-1B satellite was launched successfully on April 11, 2007. It has better performance in observation and more precise detection than the Haiyang-1A satellite.
Later, on Sept 7, 2018, the Haiyang-1C satellite was sent into orbit, marking the start of the long and medium-term planning of China's oceanographic satellites in the civil space infrastructure field.
