The tunnel of the cross the Yellow River section of the South-to-North Water Diversion project was completed on June 22, 2010.
Built by China Railway Group Limited and China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., the cross-river tunnel is the section of the South-to-North Water Diversion project with the largest scale and the longest single-phase duration.
As the most difficult section, the cross-river tunnel also adopted the most advanced technologies during the construction.
The South-to-North Water Diversion project is a strategic project to solve the water crisis in China and plays an important role in relieving water shortages in North China, promoting sustainable development and improving people's living standards.
