The targeted poverty-alleviation county of Construction Technology Consulting Co., Ltd (CCTC), Longxi county in Dingxi of Gansu province was removed from the poverty-stricken county list on Feb 28.
A technological central SOE in the construction business in urban and rural areas, CCTC strives to evolve into a leading comprehensive provider in China and all over the world in that field.
In recent years, the company has made full use of its technical and professional advantages in supporting infrastructure construction and promoting an all-round rural vitalization in Longxi.
Located in the center of the Loess Plateau, the county has a population of 522,500 people.
In order to lift the local people out of poverty, CCTC established special working institutes to investigate local needs and communicate with local people about what the company could provide.
In the past three years, the company has invested 19.66 million yuan ($2.77 million) and raised poverty-alleviation funds of more than 1 million yuan, benefiting 56,700 people from 13,400 poverty-stricken families.
The company also developed more than 20 projects related to industries like breeding and photovoltaic power generation.
CCTC built workshops to promote the mushroom industry which created jobs for local people and supported poverty-alleviation projects by consumption. For example, the company itself purchased local agricultural products valued at 1.28 million yuan, which directly increased income of 1,240 people in the region.
Talent training was also a part of the company's poverty-alleviation work. In October 2019, CCTC and the government of Dingxi reached an agreement on talent exchange and training.
According to the agreement, five local cadres will be sent to CCTC and five CCTC engineering and design employees will be sent to Dingxi to give training courses to 310 grassroots cadres and technical workers.
CCTC also played a part in building beautiful villages in the county as part of urban planning.
Dedicated teams were sent to survey housing design and construction, rainwater and waste water collection and treatment facilities as well as toilet renovation projects which led to investment in construction of 12 new-generation sanitary and anti-freezing demonstration toilets.
Facing the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, CCTC urgently provided 10,000 masks and donated 1 million yuan to support local pandemic prevention and control this February.
The company will continue to optimize the poverty alleviation work mechanism and participate in urban and rural planning as well as construction of new villages and special towns to help local residents in Longxi improve their lives and promote the region into a moderately prosperous county in all respects.
