Dongfeng Motor Company Limited was established on June 9, 2003, in Wuhan, Hubei province. It is a large-scale automobile enterprise jointly launched by Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

It was the first joint-venture auto company in China to offer all kinds of passenger vehicles and light commercial cars.
