Wang Cuikun: Speeding up Data Flow to Promote Smart City Construction

Updated: 2020-06-02

Wang Cuikun, CPPCC member and deputy-chief engineer of the China Academy of Building Research and chairwoman of CABR Technology Co., Ltd. shared her views on and gave suggestions for accelerating urban construction data flow to boost construction of smart cities at a panel conference of CPPCC members in science and technology on May 23.

According to Wang, the China Academy of Building Research participated in trial operation of the Xiong'an New Area's building information modeling (BIM) management platform and the city information modeling platform of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in recent years.

She herself had also submitted several proposals on smart city construction at several science and technology innovation symposiums held by the CPPCC.

She explained that data has become a main production element and accelerating urban construction data flow plays a key role in smart city development.

She suggested that relevant enterprises and departments should join hands to break the isolated information islands to build the foundation of a digital city with multiple industrial data connected to each other. At the same time, the advantage of big data and artificial intelligence should be fully used in scientific decision making to improve urban governance capacity.

Wang also urged creation of a domestic BIM software climate and preferential policies to encourage application of domestically-developed software.
