The principal project of the Three Gorges Dam was fully completed on May 20, 2006.
With a length of 2,309 meters and a height of 185 meters, the dam incorporates over 16 million cubic meters of concrete, and is the largest dam structure in the world.
Situated in Sandouping town, Hubei province, the dam is the major project of the Three Gorges hydropower station, the largest hydropower project in the world and the core feature of the Three Gorges Dam tourist area listed in the first group of national 5A level scenic spots.
Kunming Subway, the first plateau subway in China, goes into service on May 20, 2013
The initial phase of Line 1 and Line 2 of Kunming Subway, the first plateau subway nationwide, started a trial passenger run on May 20, 2013.
China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) tackled several technical design challenges, using many new technologies to build an artery running from north and south in the main city of Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, and connecting the transportation systems of the main city and Chenggong New Area.
The project resolved over 100,000 people's difficulty in traveling to the main city.
China Railway Signal & Communication (Group) Corporation Limited (CRSC) provided the project's communication system and CRRC supplied the subway trains.
