To deepen the grain circulation system, China Grain Reserve Corp was launched on May 18, 2000, marking the establishment of the vertical management system of the state grain reserve in China.
The system marked that a new mechanism of enterprization and marketization of the state grain reserve has been founded.
The company has become a backbone of safeguarding China's grain security and micro-control of the country's grain, cotton and oil industry through continuous optimization of the vertical management system.

Generally developed by China North Industries Group Corporation Limited (Norinco Group), GBAS is an important part of the Beidou Navigation Satellite System and a key project to effectively realize modern economic and social development and to meet the needs of services in different locations.
Many departments including the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the National Bureau of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information, the China Meteorological Administration, the China Earthquake Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Education also participated in the system's development.

China succeeded in exploiting combustible ice in the Shenhu Area of the northern South China Sea on May 18, 2017, the first time flammable ice had been exploited in this area.
Since then, China has become the first country to continuously and stably obtain flammable ice in the ocean.
The success played a role in changing China's energy structure and lowered the reliance on resources like petroleum. It confirmed that China has gained independent intellectual property rights in the theory, technical skills, engineering and equipment necessary to exploit and develop natural gas hydrate.
Many Chinese central SOEs including China National Petroleum Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Ansteel Group, China COSCO SHIPPING Group, State Development & Investment Corp., Ltd. and China Merchants Group also played important roles in this national strategic project.
