Sinopec Group's 16 Melt-Blown Production Lines in Operation

Updated: 2020-05-14

The 12th melt-blown fabric production line in Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fibre Co., Ltd of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) went into service on May 9, the last of Sinopec Group's 16 melt-blown production lines to go into operation.

Adding the output of Sinopec Group's joint venture enterprises, the company can produce as much as 37 tons of such materials daily, which means an annual output of more than 13,500 tons. The materials are enough for production of 13.5 billion surgical masks.

The melt-blown fabric is used as the filter layer of medical products like masks. It performs well in filtering, permeability, heat preservation and absorption.

In response to the shortage of the melt-blown fabric since COVID-19 burst out, Sinopec Group built an industrial chain to produce special polypropylene compounds, melt-blown materials and melt-blown fabric and launched mask production lines to support the anti-pandemic battle.

The four lines other than the 12 in Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fibre Co., Ltd, are in Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical Company.

The construction of the first line started on Feb 24. With the last line now in operation, the world's largest melt-blown fabric production base is completed.
