Twenty-one counties in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region were de-listed as poverty-stricken areas in China, the region's government announced on May 9.
One of the 21 counties, Fengshan county, was a targeted poverty-alleviation area of FAW Group.
By early May all the company's precise targets, namely Zhenlai and Helong counties in Northeast China's Jilin province, Zuogong and Mangkang counties in the Tibet autonomous region as well as Fengshan, had escaped poverty.
Fengshan is an extremely poor county in Guangxi and a major national poverty-alleviation target. FAW Group was designated to support the area's poverty alleviation in 2013 and sent three employees to the county.
The company invested a total of 93.24 million yuan ($13.14 million) and implemented 196 poverty-alleviation projects which benefited 38,420 local residents from 24,078 households in nine villages and towns.
By the end of April, 189 projects were completed and another seven are still underway.
Since 2013, 82,000 residents, or about 12,000 people, in Fengshan, have been lifted out of poverty annually.
FAW Group's support pushes forward poverty-alleviation of Fengshan in a variety of ways including infrastructure construction, industrial development, education, consumption promotion and health care.
The company will continue to make efforts in poverty alleviation in 2020, a crucial year in winning the anti-poverty battle and promoting rural revitalization.
