"The three transformations" policy is proposed by President Xi Jinping on May 10, 2014

President Xi Jinping points out that equipment manufacturing is a nation's backbone during his visit to China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. on May 10, 2014.

Xi affirmed Chinese central SOEs' independent innovations in conquering scientific and technological difficulties and breaking technical barriers.

He also put forward the important view of "the three transformations" - pushing forward the transformation from "Made in China" to "Created in China", from China's rapid transit railways to their use in high-quality production and from Chinese products to Chinese brands.

Xi's view indicated a direction for the development of Chinese brands.

In 2017, the State Council approved May 10 as "China Brand Day".

Construction of China's first individual 20 kV power grid in a rural area is completed on May 10, 2014

Construction of the Dulong River individual power grid with a generating capacity of 20 kV was completed on May 10, 2014 in Yunnan province.

It was China's first individual power grid at the power generating level in the rural area. The power line ran through 38 villages, bringing electricity to every connected household.

Before the grid, Dulongjiang village could not connect to a main electrical source because of nearby snowy mountains. Only an individual power grid could be constructed relying on local hydropower facilities.

There are still many villages facing issues like long power line and low quality of power supply. The Dulong River 20 kV individual power grid has shown how the problems can be solved.
