China XD Group to Export Its First 170kV GIS Vehicle Transformer Substation Overseas

Updated: 2020-05-06

China XD Group Co., Ltd recently signed an agreement with Bukaka Group on providing its first 170kV GIS vehicle-mounted transformer substation to the Merngin Hydropower Plant in Indonesia.

Voltage of the power grid in Indonesia is mainly 170 kV, which means China XD Group's product perfectly meets the voltage requirement.

To win the bid, China XD Group learned in detail about the Indonesian side's demands and coordinated the marketing and technical departments. Amendment of design sketches and verification of technical parameters and other work was carried on amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The company also considered transport in advance.

As the substation will be shipped by sea, changeable weather and unpredictable seawater are inevitable factors that will impact the facility quality.

Therefore, the company made a plan to weld the facility to the transport vehicle and use steel holders to support the free end, which could avoid deformation caused by bumps.

The export is a breakthrough for the company's international development and contributes to its goal to evolve into an internationally leading provider of smart electrification system solutions.

The mobile transformer substation is a kind of special power supply device for emergency power supply. It is mainly used when generators suddenly fail and can improve the emergency supply and disaster prevention and relief capacity of the power grid system.

In recent years, such substations with voltage of 110 kV or less have been manufactured in China with quality no worse than that of products manufactured in other countries.

China XD Group has developed several vehicle-mounted transformer substations with voltage of 35 kV, 110 kV and 220 kV that have been used in many projects in Jingmen of Hubei province, Hanzhong of Shaanxi province and Wuwei of Gansu province.
