Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station is put into service on May 6, 1994
After seven years' construction, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station went into service on May 6, 1994.
The plant was designed, built and operated by many enterprises including China General Nuclear Power Corporation and China Energy Engineering Group Co Ltd.
It was the first large-scale commercial nuclear power plant in the Chinese mainland and the first of its kind constructed with foreign technology and foreign investment.
The plant helped China realize its goal of leapfrog development in nuclear power construction, signaling that the country has caught up with the internationally advanced level of the nuclear power industry.
The plant has laid a foundation of China's nuclear power industry and contributed to the economic and social development of Guangdong province and Hong Kong.
China's first medium and low-speed magnetic levitation, or maglev, train begins trial operations on May 6, 2016
China's first medium and low-speed maglev train line, also the world's longest, began trial operations in Changsha, Hunan province, on May 6, 2016.
The commercial operations demonstration line was invested, designed and constructed by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited. With its development China became the fourth country to master maglev technology.
The maglev line was a strategic project to show China's strength in science and technology and its industrial level. It also facilitated efforts to build an traffic hub that integrates air and railway in central China.
The Maputo-Katembe Bridge suspension bridge opens on May 6, 2018
The Maputo-Katembe Bridge in Mozambique, built by China Communications Construction Company Limited, went into service on May 6, 2018.
The three-kilometer bridge is about 680 meters wide and 60 meters over the water.
It is currently the longest suspension bridge in Africa.
The bridge is a landmark project in Maputo, capital of Mozambique, and plays an important role in boosting economic growth in the country and southern Africa.
