The immersed tubes of the underwater passage of the Hong Kong-Macao-Zhuhai Bridge were all solidly connected on May 2, 2017, completing the 5,664-meter underwater section of the Hong Kong-Macao-Zhuhai Bridge.

The bridge is the longest sea bridge in the world and the 6,700-meter tunnel is a critical section.

The underwater passage contains 33 immersed tubes and a closure segment. The bottom tube was installed in over 40-meters of water.

The tunnel was built by China Communications Construction Company Limited and was the first open sea immersed tunnel the company constructed in China.

It is the world's longest and deepest underwater tunnel with the largest number of lanes and the longest service life.

In addition, it has the largest massing of individual tubes and ranks at the top globally for its comprehensive technical difficulty.
