The New Yellow River Bridge in Zhengzhou, Henan province went into service on April 21, 1959.

Many companies including China Communications Construction Company Limited participated in the construction.

The bridge is nearly three kilometers long and was designed and built entirely by China. Advanced bridge engineering and construction techniques such as settling huge tubular columns in the Yellow River were developed during the construction.

In addition, the project also demonstrated useful practices of building bridges under special geographical and hydrological conditions, which laid a solid foundation for future bridges over the Yellow River.

The bridge has promoted a transportation network alongside the Yellow River since its opening.
