China's first high-capacity Eurasian land cable network goes into service on April 14, 2004
The first high-capacity Eurasian land cable network started operation on April 14, 2004, providing a third path for data transmission after marine cables and satellites.
The land cable network was jointly constructed and maintained by China Unicom, Mongolia TransTeleCom and TransTeleCom (TTK) in Russia.
It runs 7,500 kilometers and connects China, Mongolia and Russia, covering many countries in Asia and Europe.
The cable network and the previously built international marine cable are backups for each other.
It optimizes China Unicom's international transmission network and supports the company in enriching its international business in Mongolia and Russia and other countries in Europe.
The world's first super-critical circulating fluidized bed boiler goes into service on April 14, 2013
The world's first super-critical circulating fluidized bed boiler, with a maximum capacity of 600 megawatts, went into service on April 14, 2013, after a 168-hour full-load trial operation.
Its operation shows that China had taken a leading role in clean coal combustion by using a high-capacity and high-parameter circulating fluidized bed boiler.
The equipment, developed by Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC), is a milestone in China's goal of creating a clean, low carbon, safe and efficient energy system and won the first prize of the State Science and Technology Progress Award in 2018.
