Chinese SOE contributes to "Ping-pong diplomacy" of China and the US

An American table tennis team and a delegation of American journalists visited the Chinese mainland on April 10, 1971.

They were the first American citizens to obtain permission to enter China and were accompanied by staff members of China Travel Service (Hong Kong) Limited, now affiliated to China National Travel Service (HK) Group Corporation.

Their visit was an ice-breaking trip for both countries. The table tennis team's visit was also a hot topic globally, and was entitled "Ping-pong diplomacy".

The largest 20000TEU container vessel, developed and built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, was handed to China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited on April 10, 2018.

The ship is China's first container carrier using China-made crack-arrest steel material, which breaks the technological monopoly of Japanese and Korean shipyards.

It is 399.8 meters long and 58.6 meters wide. It is able to carry as many as 20,119 standard containers and the area of its deck equals that of four football fields.

The vessel was named "COSCO Shipping Gemini". Its production marks China's becoming one of the leading players in building ultra-large container carriers in the world.
