The construction of the world's largest underground individual space project starts in Wuhan, Hubei province on April 5, 2016
The construction of the underground space in Wuhan Optics Valley Central City started on April 5, 2016.
It was contracted by China State Construction and is the largest underground individual space project in the world. It has an investment value of 8 billion yuan ($1.19 billion).
The underground 500,000 sq m stereoscopic space is on three floors, all connected with each other.
Facilities for transportation, shopping, office, entertainment and culture are provided in the area.
Rail transit, an underground parking lot and municipal pipeline tunnel are on the lowest floor and the middle floor is a public corridor with the main shopping centers.
The underground space will relieve pressure on public, private and freight transportation.
