A Chinese automobile company took a strategic stake in a world-leading prestigious automobile manufacturer for the first time on Mar 26, 2014.

On that date, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFM), one of China's largest auto groups, signed a series of contracts with French car manufacturer PSA Group making DFM the first majority shareholder of PSA Group.

It was the first time China's automobile company took a strategic stake in a prestigious global automobile company, and was a milestone for Chinese automobile companies' participation in international competition.

The strategic cooperation promoted the transformation and upgrading of DFM's passenger vehicle technologies and ensured DFM's technique system was geared to international standards.

The cooperation was expected to boost sustainable development and large-scale exports for DFM's passenger vehicles in the long term.
