The World Association of Nuclear Operators recently announced that nine nuclear power units of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) achieved full marks in the WANO comprehensive index in the last quarter of 2019, ranking tops in the world.
The nine units are: No. 1 and 4 units at the Qinshan No. 2 Nuclear Power Plant, No. 1 unit at the Qinshan No. 3 Nuclear Power Plant, No. 1 and 2 units at the Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant, No. 1 and 2 units at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant, No. 1 unit at the Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant and No. 1 unit at the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant.
A total of 20 units were included in the WANO's assessment and got an average score of 96.47.
CNNC has highly-evaluated security production and has kept improving management of equipment reliability as well as risk control and encouragement mechanisms of its non-stop working systems.
WANO's comprehensive index shows a nuclear power plant's performances in nuclear security, power generation management, equipment reliability and efficiency as well as industrial safety, which can be used to monitor operation and improvement of the plant.
The index helps promote operation experience exchange between power plants and encourages them to improve.
