COSCO SHIPPING Group Provides Anti-Epidemic Medical Supplies to Italy

Updated: 2020-03-18

A flight to Italy carrying anti-epidemic medical supplies provided by China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING Group) for free departed from Shanghai Pudong International Airport on March 16.

The supplies included 50,000 masks and 200 protection suits, valued at 450,000 yuan ($64,119.91) and have now been delivered to Italy's Liguria Region to help with the battle against COVID-19.

To ensure a smooth shipment, COSCO SHIPPING Air Freight in Shanghai decided to transport the supplies by the earliest and fastest available airline and completed all procedures including customs declaration, safety inspection and palletizing in a short time.

On the packaging boxes of the supplies, the company wrote encouraging words in four languages: Latin, Italian, Chinese and English.

"Per aspera ad astra" is an old saying of ancient Rome which means the stars can be reached by going through hardships.

Another sentence, "La speranza è il pilastro che sorregge il mondo", written by Gaius Plinius Secundus (AD 23-79), an author and naval commander of ancient Rome, is also marked on the package. It means hope is the pillar that supports the world.

Partners of COSCO SHIPPING Group from home and abroad supported China's anti-epidemic battle when it was at its most serious point. Now, the company is returning the favor by helping Italy conquer hardship.
