A containership navigated through the BZX route to arrive at the Port of Houston, the United States, on March 11, carrying frozen meat, agro-products and wood from Brazil and Columbia.
Initiated by COSCO SHIPPING Lines in February 2020, the BZX is a new passage between the US Gulf Coast and Brazil and further opens six countries: the US, Mexico, Panama, Jamaica, Columbia and Brazil.
The route is available for 3,500 TEU ships and fast and stable service is provided on sections between the US Gulf Coast, the Caribbean and Brazil.
It has evolved into an artery of the shipping network covering Central America, the Caribbean and the western regions of South America.
The first constructive route between North America and South America COSCO SHIPPING Group has ever had, it is a milestone in formation of the company's shipping network in the Americas in that it links regional routes in the Americas and along the Caribbean coast.
The shipping network includes 20 shipping routes – seven regional routes and four supplemented common feeders connected to nine major routes.
Such passages provide international trade with more diversified and higher quality transport service.
So far, COSCO SHIPPING Lines has deployed six containerships in Central America, with a total capacity of 11,800 TEU.
